Module 1 – An Overview of Bearings & Bearing Maintenance
At the end of this module the learners will be able to:
• Recognise and describe the commonly used bearings
• Describe the general principles of maintenance on bearings
• Perform a simple procedure checking running bearings using basic equipment
Module 2 – Plain Bearings (Bushings)
At the end of this module learners will be able to:
• Remove and replace plain bushings using a screw-thread puller and a hydraulic press
• Remove and replace automotive shell type bearings
• Check running clearance
Module 3 – Removal & Replacement of Anti-friction Bearings
At the end of this module learners will be able to:
• Demonstrate the removal and replacement procedures of single race ball or roller type bearings
Module 4 – Servicing
At the end of this module learners will be able to:
• Demonstrate ability to replace a set of taper roller bearings in a wheel hub
• Adjust tolerances using a typical procedure
Module 5 – Bearing Fault Diagnosis
At the end of this module learners will be able to:
• Identify common bearing faults by analysing certain wear or damage patterns
