Module 3 – Pliers & Grips
At the end of this module learners will be able to:
• Recognise popular types of pliers and grips
• Describe their purpose and applications
• Apply basic safety rules during use
• Maintain pliers and grips
Module 4 – Cutting Tools
At the end of this module learners will be able to:
• Use a hacksaw to cut metal in the correct manner (including blade selection)
• Maintain a hacksaw in good working order
• Select appropriate file for metal work
• Apply correct filing techniques to mild steel
• Apply necessary safety rules in filing
• Identify typical cold chisels
• Correctly use a conventional cold chisel
Module 5 – Screwdrivers
At the end of this module learners will be able to:
• Identify and select various screwdrivers
• Use screwdrivers in an efficient and safe manner
• Apply necessary safety rules with screwdrivers
Module 6 – Striking Tools
At the end of this module learners will be able to:
• Identify and select various hammers and mallets
• Use hammers in typical applications
