At the end of this module learners will be able to:
• Identify and prepare light duty soldering equipment
• Identify and correct solder type to be used
• Maintain soldering-iron tips
• Make a straight soldered connection (wire to wire)
• Solder a screened cable to a connector (audio)
• Solder a multi-core cable to a multi-pin connector (D-type)
• Identify typical soldering faults
Module 2 – Light Duty Hand Soldering Part 2
At the end of this module learners will be able to:
• Heat sink sensitive components
• Properly prepare components to be mounted onto PC boards
• Solder components onto PC boards
• Recognize common soldering faults
• De-solder components from PC boards
• Carry out some general maintenance to PC boards
